About me

I am a writer and a translator. Alex Hope is a pseudonim I have chosen to work under. In the past 3 years I have translated a few books and short stories for the anthologies into Russian, including Paul McAuley's The Quiet War, some short stories and novellas by Michael Moorcock and the graphic novel The Black Science to name but a few.

As for my own stories I mostly work in the genre of fantasy and science fiction, though I have written a number of real life stories (like It's Your Turn Now which you can find and download from the MY STORIES page). I enjoy all sorts of stories and like to explore new genres.

I completed an online course in Creative Writing with the Open University. I also did a short creative writing course with one of the major St Petersburg publishers "Astrel".

I do believe that stories make this world better. They help to explore ourselves and the world around us, find courage and escape the pain.

Having been teaching at the university for more than seven years, I finally came to the conclusion that writing is what I really want to do.

So welcome to my World of Stories!
