Today I decided to share a few really inspirational quotes I came across recently.

No job is easy and we do get a writer's block sometimes. So it is always nice to remember why we are doing this and that we are not alone struggling.

Enjoy and feel free to add your own thoughts!

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you" (Maya Angelou, I know why the Caged Bird Sings)

I find this one so true. Because an untold story is like a storm raging inside you, like a tidal wave that cannot be stopped. So do not hesitate - take pen and paper or your laptop and let the story flow. If you have a story to tell, do not cage it inside yourself. A good story makes this world better.

"We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect." (Anaïs Nin)

And we also share life with others, so no one and nothing is forgotten. Besides, our stories are there to help others even if only to cheer them up.

"We live and breathe words.... It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them. Reading your words, what you wrote, how you were lonely sometimes and afraid, but always brave; the way you saw the world, its colors and textures and sounds, I felt-- I felt the way you thought, hoped, felt, dreamt. I felt I was dreaming and thinking and feeling with you. I dreamed what you dreamed, wanted what you wanted..." (Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince)

Books can be the greatest source and teacher of empathy. Books have helped me a lot in the darkest moments of my life. Better than music and songs. Stories take you on a journey and as we all know journeys always change us and they do so for the better.

The next one is really fantastic:

"After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world." (Philip Pullman)

You cannot add anything to that.

And these two are just for everyone who is in doubt:

"Start writing no matter what. the water does not flow until the faucet is turned on." (Louis L'Amour)

"And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt." (Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journal of Sylvia Plath)

If someone ever going to criticise you for escapism quote Lloyd Alexander to them:

"Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it." (Lloyd Alexander)

And the last one is from Stephen King:

"You can, you should, and if you're brave enough to start, you will" (Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft)

So, whatever your story is, if you feel the call, do not hesitate and pen it down. There'll be a person that needs it. Because there is always you who needs the story to be told.
